Every site works from a site key, and the plan on that key sets how many comments it may send for a verdict in a calendar month. Take a free key below, or buy a larger allowance — no account to create, and nothing to fill in.
Your key is issued on the next page and shown once. We keep only a one-way hash of it, so it cannot be shown to you again — copy it before you leave that page. It is not tied to any site yet: it binds itself to the first site that uses it.

What counts as a check
One comment sent for a verdict is one check, and a pingback or a trackback counts the same way. Comments the plugin never sends cost nothing at all: anyone who can moderate your site, and anyone who already has an approved comment on it, is recognised as trusted before a request is built. The count is kept against the key over the calendar month in UTC and starts again from zero when the next one begins.
When the month's checks are used up
We stop sending new comments for a verdict until the calendar month begins again, and your key stays valid throughout. Your site carries on moderating on its own terms, exactly as it did before you installed anything — nothing in the plugin is taken away from you, and nothing you have paid for is lost. If you would rather unchecked comments waited for the new month, that is a setting you choose on the plugin's own screen.
Why the allowance sits on the key
A key is something only we can issue; a domain is something a site states about itself. So the allowance is counted against the key, which makes it exact — you always know what is being counted, and moving a site to a new home does not disturb it. The key records the first site that uses it and stays with that site, but nothing is reserved or claimed in advance. Running a second site? Take a second key.
Plan names on this page
Free, Start and Pro on this page are plans of the WordPress product, and are written out in full — Synth for WordPress — Free, Synth for WordPress — Start, Synth for WordPress — Pro — wherever a price stands beside them. Synth runs other products with plans of their own; the names are not shared, the allowances are not shared, and nothing carries over between them.
Getting started
Choose a plan above. Your key is issued and shown on the next page — copy it, install the Synth Antispam plugin on your site, open Settings → Synth Antispam and paste it in. For a paid plan, payment follows on that same page, right after the key is shown.
You can also skip this page entirely: the plugin's settings screen has its own Get a site key button, and the same upgrade buttons once a key is in place. Nothing on this page changes a key you already hold.
